Commissions

The Commissions help CNS examine pressing issues related to Peoples, Nations, and States. The current areas the Commissions are working in are Justice, Environment, Economics, Political, Culture and Society, and Security. Each Commission has a specific mandate assigned to them that gives them the flexibility to work on different types of issues. The Commissions prepare resolutions, and/or studies, and/or reports to present to the CNS Assembly.

Culture and Society

The Culture and Society Commission will prepare draft Resolutions and/or complete a study and/or issue a report which focuses on issues related to cultural heritage, language protections, protection of cultural expression, art, literature, mental health, and other pressing issues related to culture and society. The Commission is also mandated to follow up on any issues asked of them by the Assembly or the Convening Council.

Security Commission

The Security Commission will prepare draft Resolutions and/or complete a study and/or issue a report which focuses on issues such as gender-based violence, protection of Peoples, territories, sacred sites, during peacetime and conflict the distribution of humanitarian aid, food and water security and other pressing issues related to security matters. The Commission is also mandated to follow up on any issues asked of them by the Assembly or the Convening Council.

Environmental Commission

The Environmental Commission will prepare draft Resolutions and/or complete a study or issue a report which focuses on challenges to environments, environmental and ecological structures, territories, water, land ownership, wildlife protection and environmental stewardship, climate change, and other pressing issues related to the environment. Commission is also mandated to follow up on any issues asked of them by the Assembly or the Convening Council.

Political Commission

The Political Commission will prepare draft Resolutions and/or complete a study and/or issue a report which focuses on political issues, identity and recognition, self-determination, civic participation and other pressing issues related to politics within Nations and between Peoples, Nations and States. Economic Commission

The Economic Commission will prepare draft Resolutions and/or complete a study and/or issue a report which focuses on economic issues between Peoples, Nations, and States, economic structures and capacities, intellectual property, patents, trade relations, or other pressing issues related to economics. Justice Commission

The Justice Commission will prepare draft Resolutions and/or complete a study and/or issue a report which focuses on access to justice, human rights violations, treatment of Peoples and Nations within State systems, and justice reform related to Nations and States judicial systems as consistent with international human rights principles and treaties, and other pressing issues related to the dispensation of justice. The Commission is also mandated to follow up on any issues asked of them by the Assembly or the Convening Council.
