CNS Academic Conference
The Convening Council of CNS requested the creation of an academic conference which incorporates diverse academic voices from around the world from Peoples that may otherwise not be given a forum to speak. Beginning in 2023, taking place every two years and rotating around the world, CNS has made a commitment to increasing the voices of scholars at risk and Peoples who are interested in scholarly pursuits. CNS aims to partner with academic institutions who want to diversify voices within academia and who are committed to diverse inclusion in academic dialogue.
Further, as part of more efforts to increase the voices of our members and Peoples around the world, we have a Podcast and a Journal which will be forthcoming.
If you would like to sponsor this event, the podcast, or the journal, please contact us.
CNS 2023 Academic Conference
The 2023 CNS Academic Conference will be hosted online on the 28 September 2023 in collaboration with University of Northampton, UK. The topics are determined by what our 2022 Assembly identified as key priority areas and are as following:
- Mitigating the disproportionate impact of climate change and natural resources extractivism on Indigenous and Minority groups
- Empowering indigenous and minority claims to land they inhabit, especially, within state-centric international structures
- Increasing political participation and governance power of Peoples and indigenous groups, nationally and internationally
- Ensuring indigenous and minority group access to basic human rights which are threatened by privatisation and, at times, the UN sustainable development agenda
